Trial run of a lifestyle-based social event for Horizon yacht owners makes waves
The Australian arm of luxury Taiwanese motor yacht brand Horizon has trialled a water toy-fuelled raft-up ahead of plans to hold a much bigger event for owners in December.
The weekend’s event combined the brand’s yachts with smaller craft to demonstrate how the boats can double as lifestyle magnets for owners.
An all-new Horizon V81 and a Horizon E73 served as sports yacht-based motherships for the day. Tagging along were a Malibu 23 LSV Wakesetter wakeboarding boat and a couple of jet skis from nearby JSW Powersports.

About 20 guests, including Jack Springer, the US-based chief executive of lifestyle boating brand Malibu, and the chief executive of the Australian boat-making division of Malibu, Price Taylor, hit the water for the day. Joining them were Horizon Yacht Australia represenatives, managing director Mark Western, and Erica Redman.

“It was a tough day in the office,” Horizon Yacht Australia national sales manager Tony Jones, who organised the event, said. “Everyone had a go at wakeboarding, and on the jet skis,” he said.
The success of the day has Jones starting to think about holding a similar event again soon.

Bigger event planned

Horizon is also planning to hold a raft-up day for all Horizon owners as many of the brand’s boats that have wintered up north around Hamilton Island head back down to Sydney for summer.
“On December 14, we’re opening the doors again on the Gold Coast for all Horizon owners,” Jones said.

“Events we’ve held in the past, people look at the photos and say ‘wow, I would really like to be part of that’,” he said. “We’ve been inundated with people saying they want to be involved.”
